PLAY THERAPY (psychotherapy)
Play is how children experience the world, cope with stress, and communicate their inner experience. Since their verbal skills are not yet fully developed, they cannot use words to fully express their internal experience of feelings and thoughts. The only way they can express themselves is through play. At Two Trees Therapy Services we are child-center and use a play-based approach. Each child we work with will have the opportunity to express themselves in a safe place with their individual therapist who provides warmth, focused attention, boundaries, and opportunity for exploration and growth.
Emotional expression is difficult for adults…imagine how hard it is for children! Their little brains are still developing and learning to take in the world. They can only express their emotions with emotions…tantrums, tears, yelling…they need help to verbalize. At Two Trees Therapy Services we help them to express their emotions and provide them with the language and resources to cope with overwhelming experiences. ADHD ASSESSMENT
When young children have ADHD and it hasn’t been diagnosed, they might have a hard time sitting still, following directions, or staying focused during play or learning. This isn’t because they’re “bad” or not trying—it’s because their brains work a little differently. Without understanding what’s really going on, kids might get in trouble a lot, feel frustrated, or think they’re not good enough. . Catching ADHD early means kids can get the help they need to feel successful, confident, and happy just the way they are.
