Specialization and Approach

Kevin Chao specializes in working with children with disabilities and working alongside families who have a family member with a disability. Additionally, Kevin brings a wealth of experience in helping those living with anxiety, depression, trauma, lack of self-compassion, and neurodiversity. He is passionate about helping people discover their best selves and find their peace in the midst of chaos. His work is rooted in a client-centered approach, grounded in the belief that each person already carries within them the ability to grow and heal. Kevin welcomes and works with people of all races, ethnicities, genders, and orientations. Presence and deep listening guide his work, both in therapy and in life. In his role as a school psychologist, he is comfortable sitting with people in the middle of pain—whether that means hearing difficult and traumatic experiences or being present during moments of crisis. Through listening, respect, and a nonjudgmental presence, Kevin aims to support healthy, active growth for you.

Education and Training:

Kevin is a licensed professional counselor candidate and a nationally certified school psychologist who earned his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies and Masters degree in School Psychology from Eastern University. Kevin earned his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati where he was active with the non-profit Young Life. Prior to becoming a school psychologist and therapist, Kevin worked for Young Life for 10 years, helping early adolescents and their families navigate their purpose in life and helping them move towards what really matters to them. Prior to his work with Young Life, Kevin worked as the Operations Manager a.k.a. The Elephant with the Cincinnati Circus Company!
